Meet the Organisers

Although the Czech Republic has subscribed to the Smart City concept in the Financial Resources Treaty between the EU and the Czech Republic for the period 2014-2020, many cities didn't participate in the conceptual achievement of Smart City goals. However, Písek was one of the few cities that actually processed the material on conceptualizing Smart City goals with a document called "The Blue-Yellow Book of Smart Písek" approved by the City Council in 2015. Among other things, this document made Písek a pilot concept of Smart City among medium-sized cities by signing an agreement between the Ministry of the Environment and the city management.

To maintain its position as a "smart" leader among medium-sized Czech cities, the city of Písek has set up a specialist workstation for the Smart City Písek development project valid since February 1, 2017. Its task is to cover activities around Smart Písek, to come up with system concepts that identify priorities within the areas defined in The Blue-Yellow Book, and on the basis of these priorities to propose projects suitable for implementation. In addition, such a workplace is still completely unique in Czech cities of comparable size. The Mayor of Písek, Mgr. Eva Vanžurová has been responsible for the Smart Office Agenda since November 2018.

Organising a Climathon is the next step towards fulfilling the smart city concept in the environmental field.
