Our mission is to create sustainable energy communities through citizen engagement.We aim to a just social transition designing clean technologies & new governance models for a condominium in Bologna.
In the video a council meeting is simulated:the building administrator shows to the residents the main steps and proposals behind the realization of an energy community within the apartment,with the support of a technical advisor and a municipality assessor.The simulated council meeting is the first informative step of a process that aims to increase engagement, awareness and responsibility among the future members.The other steps are:consulting, including and collaborating for building the community.The energy community can adopt a set of sustainable and inclusive technologies,all based on a photovoltaic plant installed on the building rooftop.The renewable electricity produced could potentially feed a heat pump,as well as other common appliances that can be converted into smart services for community members,if some basic demand-response techniques are applied.The social core of the project is the attention paid to people in energy poverty:who can’t afford an initial investment in renewable energies probably would not participate in the project.For that,we think to exchange(babysitting or taking care of common areas)services with social purpose for a discount in bills.We propose to create active roles for the community management:this will help the residents to be really involved in the project.These figures will help to communicate inside and outside the community and to manage energy production.Finally,the project idea reaches the sports centres and large shopping malls in the district,that attract large traffic volumes from the city centre.To this extent,green-mobility services(recharge stations for e-cars and bikes)but also management of local green areas and cultural events set up a broad portfolio of activities offered by the community to externals.Lastly,in synergy with the city sustainable development plan,innovative hydrogen refuelling stations prospect to transform the regional tradition of Motor- into Hydrogen-Valley.
