Time to stop devastating effects of climate change on our sea

At València Activa we are concerned about climate change and the devastating effects on our sea

CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT 1: THE TROPICALIZATION OF THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN IS SPREADING WEST WITH THE WARMING WATERS, THREATENING ECOSYSTEMS AND ECONOMIES ALIKE

CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT 2: HIGHLY DESTRUCTIVE INVASIVE SPECIES – NOTABLY RABBITFISH AND LIONFISH – ARE SPREADING ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN AS ITS WATERS WARM, DEVASTATING NATIVE ECOSYSTEMS

CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT 3: NUMBERS OF JELLYFISH ARE BLOOMING IN THE MEDITERRANEAN EACH YEAR, DISRUPTING FISHERIES AND OVERWHELMING TOURIST BEACHES

MATE CHANGE EFFECT 4:  WARMING WATERS AND RISING SEA LEVELS ARE THREATENING THE SURVIVAL OF VITAL POSIDONIA MEADOWS, WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES FOR BIODIVERSITY AND BLUE CARBON

CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT 5:   EXTREME WEATHER IS DESTROYING THE CHARISMATIC CORAL SPECIES THAT UNTIL NOW HAS PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN MANY COMPLEX MEDITERRANEAN ECOSYSTEMS

CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT 6: SUDDEN MASS DIE-OFFS OF THE CHARISMATIC PINNA NOBILIS MAY BE LINKED TO THE WARMING TAKING PLACE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN
