We generate a positive impact on primary school children. We want to reset the notion of waste and loss of value in objects we use. We aspire to a future where the concept of waste no longer exists.
What if there is no decrease of value in the objects we use? What if we can reset the moment when we start giving value to things we use? We believe this moment happens at an early age, and this is why we want to work with kids. The format we propose is a series of short video episodes (5 minute) named “RoundAbout”. For the creation of the leading character in the series, we choose the language of theatrical clown because of the capacity of the clown figures to go through mistakes and disasters and at the same time be the bearer of hope and courage. A few people are able to change patterns of actions and mindset out of fear and shame, but with the help of a clown's gaze we find new ways to deal with the meaning of value. The aim is to achieve a playful content in which the materials do not have a moral perspective on their use, but rather an innocent approach that allows them to be played with. RoundAbout short films are intended to be an initial stimulus, or complementary material, that invites us to talk about these issues. We believe that by offering a creative-light contact with this profound issue; reflections and future outcome actions can be more creative and generate a desire for closer engagement. The videos have the objective to expose and make visible that objects can have multiple purposes and can keep the value over time and stay in cycles, opening up to a new understanding of the “value of things”. Resetting the concept of waste from the future generations’ mindset will contribute to keeping the value of objects in the cycles. We will offer the videos, as complementary educational material, to the DECS (Dipartimento dell'educazione, della cultura e dello sport), to the Azienda Cantonale dei Rifiuti and to the WWF Panda Club as a channel to quickly reach a wider number of children in schools.
