What is Climathon?
Climathon is a series of ideation events bringing citizens together to raise awareness, inspire action, and create solutions to local climate challenges.
A Climathon ideation event is created by independent organisers and organisations, and can happen in person or virtually. The event typically lasts 12-48 hours where participants collaborate to tackle local climate challenges during the idea generation process.
Climathon has been organised since 2015 with about 600 organisers, 1,000 events and over 30,000 participants worldwide.
Becoming a Climathon organiser is free, as long as you adhere to the organiser responsibility and terms and conditions.
Want to organise a Climathon?
Anyone with the drive to raise climate awareness, strengthen local ecosystems and inspire further climate action and projects can be a Climathon organiser.
Being a Climathon organiser is an extraordinary experience, but also a big commitment. EIT Climate-KIC is here to support you on your Climathon journey, through our materials, guides and community of experienced organisers.
Global Climathon Days
Climathons mission is to connect cities, towns and regions with their citizens to catalyse systemic change and to create climate-resilient communities.
Each year EIT Climate-KIC organise the “Global Climathon Days” to unite all Climathons across the globe. In 2023, Global Climathon Days will take place on October 27-29.
