Copernicus Climathon: Traffic and Air Pollution Reduction

As Bristol grows, air pollution in the city has grown along with it. Recent studies have pointed to pollution levels close to twice the legal limit in parts of the city. "Council research estimates that around 300 deaths a year - 8.5 per cent of the total number of deaths in Bristol - are affected by air pollution." (http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/air-pollution-almost-twice-legal-298735).

This growth has also caused Bristol to be one of the top 3 most congested cities in england (http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-named-uks-third-most-79300). As the overwhelming majority of air quality management areas are due to traffic emissions of nitrogen dioxide, these problems may have a common solution.

Bristol Climathon is focused on generating unique solutions to these problem through collaboration. Solutions will utilize Copernicus data to apply a new perspective in tackling this problem.
