Title of Challenge
Relationship between the development of city traffic and climate change
Description of city challenge
Throughout history, mankind has always been changing it’s enviroment. Human intervention caused the climate change, with the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The source of these emission are various, such as factories, powerplants, agricultural activities and transportation.

Two-thirds of the population of Hungary lives in cities, where 75% of our energy consumption happens, so it is extremely important to facilitate positive changes in consumer habits, energy savings, the power consumption in residential buldings, as well as in transportation. All in all, changing the enviromental attitude of the population and that of the business sector.

In the public transport of Debrecen, there was a noticable aspiration to lower the emission of pollutants in recent years, however we desperately need to shape the enviromental attitude of the consumers. We must explain the advantages of enviromental awarness, and how it can affect their everyday life.

How can the public transport, the general populace and the business sector work together?
How can we enhance enviromental awareness, and which are the best measures to hasten the fruition of these projects?
These are the questions we want to answer in our challenge. Reaching the point, where the transportation of Debrecen through combined efforts can make a positive impact on enviromental attitude, meanwhile lowering the emission of pollutants, is our overall goal.
