Climathon 2020
Transformative ideas for a better tomorrow
Since 2015, every October cities and citizens unite to co-create answers to local climate challenges through Climathon. In 2020, hundreds of cities across the globe once again came together – either in-person or online – on November 13 and celebrated Global Climathon Day. Thousands of citizens collaborated to raise climate awareness, disrupt the status quo, and reimagine the future of how we produce, move, and consume.
At the core of last year’s edition was an ideathon, powered by our local organisers - the people who know their cities’ climate challenges best. While the Climathon programme is theme agnostic, and it is up to individual cities to select their local challenges, we encouraged the community to aim for bold, ambitious and transformative climate action.
COVID-19 & Climathon
In addition to the usual in-person Climathon, this year will mark the first time Climathon can be hosted online. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the fragility of our existing systems. However, it doesn’t mean we have to hit pause on our resourcefulness and collaboration. On the contrary, the time is now to swing the pendulum in favour of our planet’s future.
