On Friday 26th October, Galway city’s innovators will join over 100 cities globally to generate pioneering ideas the zero-carbon economy of the future.

Galway Climathon 2018 will harness the energy of all interested individuals to develop and scale innovations towards a zero-carbon future for Galway city. Prospective innovators can register for free and join Challenge teams addressing a range of sustainability challenges.

This is the 3rd year that Galway city has participated in the Global Climathon hackathon, which is being hosted by NUI Galway’s Ryan Institute & its MScCCAFS program. For 2018, we are bringing the Climathon to the Portershed in the Innovation District of Galway, and again working closely with our TechInnovate partners to identify innovations that can be scaled to reduce the carbon footprint of Galway city and improve its resilience to climate change, while improving the quality of life of its citizens.

All are welcome!

The top 100 highest-footprint cities worldwide drive roughly 20% of the global carbon footprint. If all cities globally, whether large or small, made concerted efforts to reduce their carbon footprints it would make a significant impact on decarbonisation pathways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
