Together we can make Lagos and the world a better place to live!

Lagos is going through a waste crisis and it might soon get to your door step! Collaborate with us to identify innovative opportunities to make waste collection, treatment and recycling more sustainable across Lagos

Lagos is currently on a misadventure on waste management and slowly returning to its era of filth and dumpsite. The streets, roads, and water-ways are flooded with waste and have become a burden to it's estimated 22 million populace.

On average, it is projected that each resident generates about 1.2 kg of waste per day. This figure is projected to rise to 1.42 kg in the next fifteen years which presents a serious cause for concern.

Thus, there is an urgent need to rid Lagos of its dumpsite waste culture and only it's citizens can steer it back in the right direction.

During an 8 hour hackathon, you will collaborate with other citizens to brainstorm, design, build and recommend innovative tools that would spur solutions which ensure long-term, sustainable growth in the recycling and waste sector.

Challenge

Lagos is the most populous city in Africa. Yet, it is also slowly becoming the waste capital of Africa. How can we maximise the benefits from the waste in Lagos and transform it to a greener sustainable city?
