Together we can make Rome resilient to climate changes!

Urban resilience is the key to urban wellbeing: driving positive change through knowledge sharing

Ancient roots with an eye to the future

Rome was already a metropolis 2000 years ago and is now home to a population of nearly 3 millions residents, and daily hosting 2 million commuters and 125.0000 tourists. Rome, as any other modern large city, faces the pressures of people moving from the hinterland to the city center, but in an urban context which results from the stratification of subsequent ages, and still keeps the original footprint of the ancient Roman structure. This at the same time represents an invaluable cultural resource and a strong constraint to new urbanistic solutions. Resilience is not only the ability to adapt  to external factors, it is also the ability to assess weaknesses and disclose opportunities, and to implement innovative actions  for an effective  governance of urban services,  and for the design of sustainable public policies.

A place where new ideas come to life

Often the most interesting ideas stem from the contamination between different fields of knowledge. Climathon will be an opportunity for Rome to gain new ideas to face its problems, to enhance awareness among citizens and stimulate  more responsible behaviors

Another piece in the puzzle of climate change adaptation

Climate change is a global problem that must be locally faced. Action has to be taken everywhere, especially starting from large cities.
