Solution description

The idea of the project was based on the real needs of Brno. The main objective was therefore to create something that would be immediately applicable in practice for city representatives as well as the professional and non-professional public. Another goal was to create this output in such a way that its creation is sustainable and can be used anywhere in the world, even with a different indicator of air quality than the one we have chosen for our project (PM10). The resulting map application was created in the Czech configurable web map platform called Corpis Maps, which allows the creation of analytical maps even for non-programmers. The map displays data from twelve measuring stations in the Brno-city district (the application is ready for extension of stations from all over the Czech Republic). In addition, each station has information on the measurement method and detailed historical data on measured PM10 values divided into individual years. The map also shows the long-term historical development of PM10 and the same development with details of exceeding the limit value of 50μg / m3. As can be seen, alarming is the prolonged high concentration of PM10 at the beginning of the year in the city centre. In 2016, the average monthly value exceeded the immission limit on only one station in January. In 2017 it was already 6 stations in January and 3 stations in February.
