Solution for future mobility challenges in Berlin

We're Close the Gap, a 7-headed team of engineers, data scientists, UX designers and sustainable business innovators.

Solution context

Decision makers in Berlin who have to execute the Berlin Mobility Act have the power but not the data knowledge to accordingly tackle Climate Change. This is because they lack data-driven decision making support: They simply do not know, where to allocate project funds as they miss the relevant data to substantiate their decisions. This challenge is reproducible to practically every city in the world that tries to improve its mobility infrastructure.

Solution description

Merging a great amount of data sets from several sources (such as UBER, DESTATIS, FixMyBerlin, CityLab Berlin and many more) we created the Berlin Gap-Closer, which deals with the missing information transparency on Berlin's biking infrastructure. This allows policy and decision makers to foresee the effects of their decisions: reduction of CO2 emissions, changes in traffic and congestion as well as impacts on cyclist safety to create a more sustainable and safe mobility environment.
