Create a team and develop solutions for the climate challenge put forward by the City of Venice

Join the Climathon in Venice to connect with city officials, experts, researchers and partners to devise viable proposals for making Venice a significantly less wasteful city. Turn your ideas into reality by working together with environmental advocates, entrepreneurs and students to produce innovative solutions and win support. Teams are invited to bring an existing idea or get inspired and think of a new solution. Experts and mentors will support your team throughout the event in finding the best solutions to the challenges.

How to effectively tackle waste production, resource consumption, materials reuse and recycling?

Tourism dominates the Venice economy and is one of the most intensive waste generating sectors. What type of projects and communication campaigns can effectively reduce waste generation, limit plastics consumption and improve the climate performance of Venice as a city and as a global beacon?

Members of the winning team will be offered special opportunities.

  • CMCC Foundation will provide research guidance via its extensive network of researchers and experts.
  • WahV (We are Here Venice) will invite members of the winning team for an internship or propose a collaboration either in Venice or at one of our partner organizations in the UK.
  • The winner group is invited to present the idea at ECOMONDO in Rimini the 8th of November 2018.
  • The emerging ideas will be presented on November 22 in Venice (Forte Marghera) at the event “Sharing Danger”.
