During the two days of the Climathon, participants will learn what a successful and impactful climate challenge means and identify the solutions that fit the local context and can be implemented at the national level.

By organization of the Climaton in Chisinau, the Energy Efficiency Agency, and the City Hall of Chisinau through the GCIP Moldova Project aims to increase local climate change awareness, strengthen local ecosystems and inspire further climate action.

Alexandru CIUDIN, director of the Energy Efficiency Agency, said that "we are currently facing the consequences of climate change and the energy crisis, therefore it is our responsibility to find solutions to these challenges." The Climathon is our answer to taking the first steps toward solving problems. Our idea is to bring together like-minded people, passionate about climate change, who will find innovative solutions for a more sustainable environment. A team of experts will guide the volunteers to contribute to developing new solutions, able to respond to the specific challenges of our community".

Policymakers, entrepreneurs, youth, business leaders, academics, students, and professionals are invited to participate in this journey of co-creation and idea generation.

More than ever, the power of innovation in cities must be harnessed to strengthen action against climate change and create a zero-carbon world in communities on every continent.

Nicolae SOLOVIOV, the national coordinator of the "Clean technology innovation programme for SMEs and start-ups in the Republic of Moldova (GCIP Moldova)” mentioned that the organized Climathon is part of the start-up acceleration cycle within the GCIP Moldova project. We plan to increase the capacities of identification of the clean tech solutions that can respond to the actual needs of the energy sector.
