Be Water Smart and join the Climathon in Timisoara!
Climathon is a global movement that organises locally; a city-based programme that offers a clear pathway to climate action. The core of the Climathon programme is a yearly ideathon that takes place in Timisoara and in hundreds of other cities across many continents and time-zones.
Our 2020 Climathon aims to reconnect the people of Timisoara with water, seen as a renewable resource, integrated in the urban life cycle.
Join us if you are an architect, landscaper, engineer or any other professional ready to take our challenge and rethink the relation between water and the city, in terms of resilience and sustainability.
We face better global challenges locally, so the smart thing to do is to be WATER SMART and join us on November 20 for a 24h ideathon!

Ideathon Timisoara 2020
This year we are hosting a 24 hours ideathon, featuring an opening session of case studies and project presentations and a closing event.
In focus are the sustainable use of water and energy resources and the prevention of sewer floods at heavy rainfalls. Our cities became less and less "permeable" to water and more frequently occuring heavy rains put an increasing pressure on the city sewers. Let's figure out how can we stop wasting storm water, start using grey water, ease down the pressure on the city sewers and recirculate naturally an essential resource.
We challenge you to think out of the box and come up with innovative, easy to apply solutions to collect and (re)use water, at home or at work. We challenge you to help us change the mindset, activate new routines and engage the community to build a greener future, in our homes and our cities.

Meet the organisers
AQUATIM is a public utility company, providing water supply and waste water collection and treatment services. The company operates regionally, throughout the Timis County, in western Romania and invested more than 350 million Euro in infrastructure since 2000, mostly from European funding programs.
Aware of the climate changes, Aquatim supports innovation and community engagement to mitigate their effects and raise awareness. The company is very interested in diverting large amounts of storm water from the sewerage network to prevent occasional sewer flooding during heavy rainfalls and save energy. Storage tanks and automatically controlled valves proved to be successful retrofitting solutions. However, the water company wants to go greener and engage the community and the experts in considering storm water as a valuable resource for both households and urban planning.
The Timiș Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is a Climate KIC official partner, involved in a strong regional network together with large companies, SMEs and regional authorities. EIT Climate-KIC Hub Romania has been part of the EIT RIS network since 2014.Contact the organiser
