Sustainability and Innovative Uses of Water Bodies
The Climathon is a global event that happens in 56 cities around the world simultaneously! It's a meeting space for entrepreneurs, students, large companies, small companies, NGOs, the city, and anyone interested in a greener future to ideate solutions for a greener local economy.
The Barranquilla climate will focus on generating solutions for sustainability problems of the water resources of Barranquilla and the Atlantic (river, swamp and sea). The event seeks to be a first step to promote sustainable innovations and ventures on blue economy issues, especially those that can give way to solving problems in the city and the department. The challenges that will be resolved in the two days of the event will have to do with the management and recycling of solid waste, the improvement of the health of the internal water bodies (swamps), the navigability and the tourist uses of the Magdalena river, the port of deep waters and the beach of Puerto Mocho. This climathon in Colombia's Caribbean is organized by Seaphia and the Dutch floating architecture company, Blue21, together with the support of the non-profit organization, Startup Societies Foundation and SENA.
Barranquilla's Climathon focuses on sustainability and hydric resources. In this Climathon, we'll ideate sustainable solutions for Barranquilla and Atlántico's:
- River, oceans, swamp!
- Coastal urban resilience
- River navigability
- Waste management and desalination
- Marine transport
- Innovation and maritime entrepreneurship
- Sustainable tourism
- Green energies
- Climate change
- and more!
